Sneak Peek: Marni for H&M

Here’s our first look at the highly anticipated Marni for H&M collection.  This image from the ad campaign appeared on the internet over the weekend, which stars fashionable actress Imogen Poots.

Pretty fabulous, right?  This looks perfectly suits the pajamas-as-outwear trend that is so hot right now.  I could definitely see singer Florence Welch rocking this outfit head to toe.  If it were me, I would probably pair the top with some black carrot trousers.

Florence Welch showing us that pajamas ain’t just for the boudoir in Kenzo Fall 2011.

The look isn’t for everyone, but hey, you gotta give her some credit for going for it!

I look forward to seeing what else Marni for H&M will reveal.  The collection hits store March 8.

KARL

Is there any name in fashion more recognizable than Karl Lagerfeld?  Designer for Chanel and Fendi, he’s practically the patron saint of fashion.  Now you can own a Lagerfeld design without forking out tons of cash for the interlocking C’s.  Available exclusively on Net-A-Porter, check out his brand new lower priced line KARL.  Mostly neutral in color but focusing on textures like leather, sequins and metallics, KARL definitely has the signature lady-with-an-edge Lagerfeld touch.  Here are the pieces I’m obsessed with:

Sequin Poplin Collar, $175

Safa Metallic Leather Skirt, $445

Sabine Sequin Shorts, $270

Jane Layered Twill Tuxedo Jacket, $270

And of course, Cutaway Leather Glove, a Lagerfeld signature, $65
The collection also includes shoes and handbags.  I’m really loving the dresses too.  Grab your favorite KARL pieces on Net-A-Porter before they’re gone!

Nanette Lepore to design for jcpenney

It was announced yesterday that American fashion designer Nanette Lepore will create a line exclusively for jcpenney.  The teen-focused line, “l’amour nanette lepore”, will be merchandised in a “store within a store” environment, which is becoming increasingly popular with large retailers looking to add a luxury feel to their stores.  While the line, inspired by Lepore’s own teenage daughter, will be aimed for girls aged 13-20, don’t think that won’t stop me from getting in line.  I love the girly and feminine look of Nanette Lepore, which still manages to look sophisticated.  I’m hoping to see this aesthetic translated to the jcpenney collection.
Here are some of my favorite looks from Nanette Lepore’s Spring 2012 Ready to Wear Collection.

Nanette Lepore and her daughter, Violet.

The collection is set to launch February 2013, but I think it will be well worth the wait, don’t you?

Kim K Steps out in Versace for H&M

Kim Kardashian was spotted this weekend wearing this fabulous studded leather trench coat by Versace for H&M, which retailed for $399 when the collection was available back in November.

What a fabulous, fabulous coat!  Unless you are a famous girl who’s name starts with a K, you probably didn’t get to snag yourself one of these.  You can always try you luck with the bidding wars on eBay!  Good luck!  🙂

Luxe Rachel Zoe at QVC

I am a huge fan of Rachel Zoe.  I actually attribute her and her Bravo TV show, The Rachel Zoe Project, for sparking my interest in high fashion.  And I’ll be honest, her book “Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, & Everything Glamour” changed the way I look at everything.  So of course I was thrilled when Rachel took the leap from stylist to designer and I could purchase items with her stamp of approval.  She started out with an affordable collection for QVC, (yes, the TV channel that your Grandma buys her costume jewelry from,) and has since launched the fabulous Rachel Zoe Collection, sold only in fine department stores.  The Rachel Zoe Collection has been widely successful and seen on celebrities and in fashion editorials everywhere.  However, I can hardly afford to spend $225 on a Zoe staple like a faux fur vest, so I’m thrilled to say that Rachel has continued to work with QVC and produce more pieces for her more affordable collection, Luxe Rachel Zoe.  You go Zoe!  The best part is, you can shop online, (even though I have been known to stay up late to watch her collection launch live on TV!)  I own a few pieces from Luxe Rachel Zoe, and I’ve been very pleased with the quality and materials.  Now if I could just get my hands on a piece from the Rachel Zoe Collection…like this sequin blazer for $495:

Until then, maybe I’ll just rock it’s little sister from Luxe Rachel Zoe, on sale for $83:

Or maybe it’s accessories you crave?

Rachel Zoe Kate Ladybag $425

Luxe Rachel Zoe Pebble Leather Small Flap Handbag (Also available in black) $146

I mean, that’s like, ba-nanas, right?

Sorry, I couldn’t resist!

Jonathan Adler for Cottonelle

Yes, you read it right.  Interior design guru Jonathan Adler, known for his bold use of color and pattern, has teamed up with Kleenex Cottonelle toilet paper to produce designer toilet paper covers.  A little strange, yes, but I’m all for making something so not chic a little more glamorous!

And the price is certainly right!  Choose a free roll with the code from specially marked packages of Kleenex Cottonelle Clean Care Toilet Paper or go to www.respecttheroll.com and pay just $2.00 for the roll cover of your choice!  (You must pay $1.99 shipping for both options.)

My favorite is the Chevron Pink (far left,) but Barjello Blue and Clover Green sure are cute too!  And the chance to score Jonathan Adler for $2.00 is pretty sweet.  As you can see from the sample of his work below, he stayed true to his classic aesthetic when designing these covers.  Get yours today before they are gone!

Jason Wu for Target

For my inaugural post, I thought I’d cover the collaboration I’m most looking forward to at the moment: Jason Wu for Target.  For those of you that don’t read the little captions next to photos of actresses or models in magazines, you might not be familiar with Jason Wu.  But you’ve seen his work, I promise.

Recognize this dress?

Thought so.  Mrs. O really put Jason Wu on the map, wearing his designs at many high-profile appearances, and I love me some Michelle Obama style.  Adored by editors and fashionphiles everywhere, you too can own a design by Jason Wu, such as this dress, which retails for a mere $2300 at Saks.

Alternately, you can wait with bated breath for the upcoming Jason Wu for Target collection.  The first designer to follow the very popular Missoni collaboration, Mr. Wu has some big shoes to fill.  It looks like design-wise, he’s right on target.  (har-har.)

Cute right?  Check out this gallery for more, less-modely photos of the collection.  The 53 piece collection will be available online and in select stores February 5, with prices ranging from $19-60, including clothing and accessories.

Let’s just hope that Target has worked out all the kinks from last time.  The hype around this collection is definitely rivaling that of Missoni, only this will be a smaller collection.  (Missoni produced nearly 400 items for the Target collection.)  For those that don’t know, the Missoni collection launch was a nightmare.  Women were fighting Black Friday style in stores, and Target.com was shut down for most of the morning during the launch.  Less than a month after the Missoni debacle, the president of target.com resigned from his position…yikes.  The unprecedented website freakout is something I can totally commiserate with; as an online retailer myself, we just experience an extremely busy Christmas season that we were not expecting at all.  I myself ordered (way more than I’m proud of) from the Missoni for Target collection, and indeed a few items got cancelled months after I ordered them.  Target sent me a $20 gift card to make up for it, which made me happy.  I will probably spend that gift card on Jason Wu!  A lot more goes on with online shopping than you might realize, so if you decide to shop this (or any) online collection, be aware that there might be issues.  Your best bet would be to shop  in stores, but since Target is being very vague with their “select stores” label, who knows how many stores and which ones will actually have the Jason Wu collection.

See the lookbook on facebook here.

Good luck shoppers, and let me know if you score any Jason Wu!
